Do You Want to Open a Restaurant?
You Need to Ask Yourself Why?
Whether you are thinking of opening a restaurant,
cafe, deli, coffee shop, kiosk or mini-outlets in convenience stores
on campus, in hospitals, corporate office buildings, airports or
stadia, you need to ask yourself why?
This is the most crucial question an organisation must ask
itself when thinking of opening a restaurant. But, few do!
In order to get maximum return on investment when opening a
restaurant your organisation must be clear about the reasons why. As
with nearly all aspects of running a business, if there is a clear
vision and strategy, the decisions you will need to make further
down the line are made easier.
The reasons organisations open a restaurant are many and
varied. For example, some organisations provide a main meal at no
cost to their employees as part of their remuneration package.
In this case it may be that the provision of a catering service is
seen as being of greater value than the cash alternative. Another
organisation may provide a service because it is located in an
isolated area and does not wish staff to leave the premises.
Also, some companies use dining as a business-development tool
and maintain dining rooms to a very high standard.
Whatever the reasons for opening a restaurant; it will require a
significant investment. Today restaurants continue to diminish in
size as businesses strive to boost efficiency and profits.
Businesses are scaling back catering to save on floor space as the
food service trends turn towards
coffee shops offering high quality
original recipe products produced off-site.
